2017 Volunteer Training Sessions

All Independence Day volunteers must attend a training session, approx. 1 hour. Trainings take place at the Artillery Barracks Building located 600 Hatheway Rd, Vancouver, WA 98661.

Volunteer training sessions will be announced spring of 2017! 

At the training, you will receive the volunteer shift you have been assigned to, receive your packet with information about volunteering for the event, as well as your volunteer t-shirt and admission ticket.

All Volunteers Receive:

     Event entry pass ($5 value) Independence Day T-shirt
  Parking pass ($10 value) Snacks & water at event
  Reusable water bottle Volunteer training session

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older without an accompanying adult. An exception can be made for those participating as part of an organized and supervised group.
  • Volunteers must wear the volunteer t-shirt that is provided to them and wear closed-toe shoes. Please dress according to the weather forecast!
  • Only those volunteering will be allowed to receive free admission, a parking pass, and the provided volunteer t-shirt.
  • We depend on your commitment to participate. Your presence and timely arrival for your shifts are necessary! 

Volunteer Duties

We need 400 volunteers to help with Independence Day at Fort Vancouver!

Check out the volunteer job descriptions, and let us know if you can help at the event on July 4th!

Gates/Admission

Sell and scan tickets, assist vehicles, and hand out programs at one of the entry gates.

Information Booth

Greet visitors in our covered information booth, distribute programs, and give directions for event activities.

Parking Lot Attendants

Direct cars in and out of the event parking lots

Adult Beverage Pavillions

ID checker or script sales. Must be 21 years of age or older

Volunteer Shuttle Service

Drive a golf cart to transport volunteers from the volunteer check-in area to their assigned location.

First-Aid Area

Help event attendees with minor injuries (bruises, minor scrapes, sunburns)
(Please note our sponsor AMR has medics and ambulances onsite for major injuries)
